Gawler
Ranges 4 Day Tour
Spend four days discovering the magnificent beauty of
the ancient Gawler Ranges. Stay overnight on a working
Outback Sheep and Cattle Station.
Day
One
Depart Adelaide at 8am for Port Augusta. At Port Augusta
visit the Wadlata Outback Centre, learn about the origins
of the Flinders Ranges, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European
settlement, Explorers and much more.
After lunch travel to historic Pandurra Station, a working
Sheep Station, running 25,000-30,000 sheep and 300 cattle.
Overnight Pandurra Station.
Day Two
After breakfast enjoy a trail ride of the Station incorporating
the true Outback experience of mustering and droving stock
or take a tour of the Station. Learn about Station life,
flora, fauna and bird life from your Pandurra Station
Guide. Overnight accommodation.
Day Three
Today travel along winding gravel roads to the Gawler
Ranges. The Ranges are renowned for their wildflowers
in spring and some 150 recorded species of birds, Red
Kangaroo, Western Grey Kangaroo and Euro can also be seen.
Overnight accommodation.
Day Four
Depart at 9am approximately on return journey to Adelaide
travelling via Port Augusta and the Southern Flinders
Ranges. Travel through the Southern Flinders Ranges to
Wilmington and Orrorro.
Enjoy lunch at a 900 year old River Red Gum. Next stop
is the Pekina Ranges for a Top of the Range 4WD Tour.
These ancient Ranges rise 750 metres (2,400 feet) above
sea level giving spectacular views in every direction.
Continue travelling back to Adelaide via the picturesque
Clare Valley, sample some local wines en route (time permitting)
before arriving back in Adelaide at 6pm.
