Flinders Ranges Day Tour
Enjoy 4WD touring the magnificent Southern Flinders Ranges
travelling through ancient ranges in pristine untouched
Australia away from the tourist crowds.
Depart
Adelaide at 7am. Travel through the Mid North towns of
Port Pirie and Port Germein. Enjoy a short walk into Telowie
Gorge. Telowie Gorge Conservation Park is home to the
rare and beautiful Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby. Continue
on to Port Augusta. Visit the Wadlata Outback Centre,
learn about the origins of the Flinders Ranges, the Aboriginal
Dreaming, Explorers and much more.
After a light lunch head to the Southern Flinders Ranges
travelling via Wilmington and Orroroo, see a 900 year
old River Red Gum. Next stop is the hidden treasure of
the Pekina Valley, ringed by the brooding Pekina Ranges.
These ancient Ranges rise up 750 metres (2,400 feet) above
sea level giving spectacular views in every direction.
Engage 4WD and climb up through Sheoak Groves and large
stands of Yakka trees to the ridge tops. Some of the Yakka
trees are thought to be over 600 years old.
After enjoying the serenity of the Pekina Ranges head
back to Adelaide travelling via the Clare Valley wine
making region, arriving back in Adelaide at 6pm.
