DAY YORKE PENINSULA TOUR:
DAY
1: Depart Adelaide 8:00AM for Yorke Peninsula via
Port Wakefield. Our first stop is Wallaroo ( first surveyed
in 1860) where we have morning tea in one of South Australia's
best known holiday areas popular for its safe swimming
beach.
After
morning tea we stretch our legs with a stroll along the
jetty. From Wallaroo we head to Moonta (in 1861 it was
one of the richest copper mines in Australia). An optional
tour is a visit to the Wheal Hughes Copper Mine to experience
the underground tunnel and cathedral like workings.
It's
now onto Port Victoria( Known as the last of the windjammer
ports, the last square rigger to use the port was The
Pamir in 1949) and Port Vincent (Long known as a holiday
playground, it is set in a beautiful sweeping bay) where
we stretch our legs on a foreshore walking trail.
We
now follow the highway on the east coast to Ardrossan
and Port Clinton. From here we head to Adelaide via Port
Wakefield arriving at your accommodation at approximately
5:00PM.
